UNDERSTANDING YOUR COURT REQUIREMENT

Domestic Violence, Anger Management & Healthy Relationships: What’s the Difference?

Domestic Violence

The Domestic Violence Program focuses on understanding harmful behaviors, recognizing patterns of abuse, taking responsibility for actions, and developing healthier and safer ways to respond in relationships.

Anger Management

The Anger Management Program focuses on understanding anger, identifying triggers, managing emotional reactions, and developing healthier ways to respond to conflict and difficult situations.

Healthy Relationships

The Healthy Relationships Program focuses on building respectful relationships, improving communication, setting healthy boundaries, and developing healthier ways to handle relationship challenges.

The program named in your court order or referral matters. If you’re unsure, contact us before enrolling and confirm acceptance with your court, probation officer, attorney, or referring authority.

You're In The Right Place If...

If you recognise yourself in even one of these, you are in the right place, and far from the first.

A judge, lawyer or probation officer told you to complete domestic violence and gave you a date.

You have read the order three times and still cannot tell which class it means.

You searched Domestic Violence classes near me and found waiting lists and long drives.

Family court wants proof of emotional control before your next hearing.

HR referred you after an incident and needs documentation, not an explanation.

Nobody ordered you. You just know it's time for change.

What Matters Is What You Hand to the Court

Your court or probation officer needs documentation they can verify. Court Counseling Institute provides a detailed completion letter with your instructor’s name, professional credentials, signature, completed hours and dates, topics covered, and contact information for verification.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand you may have questions about our programs. Here are answers to some of the most common ones:

How long are domestic violence classes?

It depends on the format your court accepts. Our live domestic violence group program runs for two full days, about eight hours each day. The domestic violence self-paced online course takes 12+ hours at your own pace. Domestic violence therapy is twelve 50-minute sessions, or roughly four weeks with fast-tracking and court approval.

Will my court accept a court approved domestic violence course taken online?

Our programs have been approved in courts across the U.S., Canada and Australia for close to twenty years. No provider is accepted everywhere, though, and every judge and probation officer sets their own rules. Confirm before you enrol and we will help you check.

Who is this NOT for?

Not for you if your court named a provider we are not on, if your order requires in-person attendance, or if you want a certificate to buy rather than a program to complete. Ask us and we will tell you honestly.

Do I get a certificate or a letter?

The documentation depends on the program you select. The 12-session therapy program includes a personalized completion report upon successful completion. The 2-day group program provides a certificate within 2 business days of assignment approval, while the self-paced online course provides a letter of completion within 2 business days after final review and approval.

I searched for domestic violence classes near me. Do you have a location?

Every program runs online, so there is nothing to travel to. That is usually an advantage: no waiting lists, no time off work, and you can start today rather than waiting for a local intake date.

Can I do domestic violence and anger management classes together?

Yes. Many clients are ordered to complete both. Tell us what your order says and we will arrange the sequence and the paperwork so nothing is duplicated or missed.

What is the difference between a class and domestic violence therapy?

A class teaches the curriculum in a group, quickly. Domestic violence therapy is one-to-one and works through topics such as definitions of abuse, power and control, communication, parenting, substance use, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution. If your order names counseling, treatment or a session count, choose therapy, because a class will not satisfy it.
